He made his acting debut as a child artist in the film “Yaadon Ki Baaraat” in 1973. In the late 1970s to the early 1980s he appeared in many films as a child artist. 

But eventually, he made his breakthrough with his blockbuster film “Qayamat se Qayamat Tak” in 1988 as a lead male actor where he played the role opposite to the female lead actor Juhi Chawla.

Aamir Khan belongs to a very prominent filmmaking family as his father Tahir Husaain was a very renowned producer as well as a director.

 His mother Zeenat Hussain was a homemaker and he has two younger sisters Farhat Khan and Nikhat Khan and a younger brother Faisal Khan. 

He first started dating in 1985 with Reena Dutta and got married to her in 1986 but unfortunately they got separated and divorced in 2002. 

After living alone for more than two years he met with Kiran Rao and fell in love and they tied the knot in 2005.

Aamir has 2 children from his first spouse, a son Junaid Khan and a daughter Ira Khan.

After his separation from his first wife he married Kiran Rao and they had a son Azad Rao Khan.
