Shammi Kapoor was an Indian actor working in Indian cinema. He has two Filmfare awards: Best Actor for Brahmachari (1968) and Best Actor for Vidhaata (1982). He received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.

He made his cinematic debut as a member of the Kapoor family with the commercially unsuccessful Jeewan Jyoti (1953). After a series of box office failures, he had success with Tumsa Nahi Dekha (1957), which made him appear as a stylish dandy and dancer, followed by Dil Deke Dekho (1959).

He gained widespread recognition with her blockbuster Jungle Adventure (1961) and became one of the biggest Bollywood stars throughout the 1960s, starring in many successful and popular films, Teacher (1962), Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Teesri Manzil (1966), A Night in Paris (1967), Brahmachari (1968), and The Prince (1969) are among his films. He is the grandson of actor Terry Locke Kapoor, who is his father’s younger brother. Her father’s brother is producer and actress Surinder Kapoor.
