IIT Madras students develop Drones powered by AI and Computer Vision for Rescue Operations.

Chennai: Students of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, have made drones built with artificial intelligence and computer vision to assist in the rescue of people trapped in disaster-hit regions.
A group of students from Centre for Innovation of premier institution has created the drone ‘Eye in the Sky’ to create an end-to-end option for identifying critical and accurate info on individuals trapped in disaster-hit locations and talk them with the help task force, a release stated right here on Wednesday.
The’ Eye in the Sky’ initiative was special and the analytical modules had been based on the latest available technology with the staff developing a database, it stated.
Based on IIT-M, Department of Aerospace Engineering, school advisor to the team, P R Shankar, the’ Eye within the sky’ programme will be a successful tool for saving lives and giving succour during humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations.
The staff programs to collaborate with hardware companies that can offer scalable drone technology to carry out the required area surveillance of disaster struck places, it stated.
It received the finals of Indian Innovation Growth Programme, Faculty Challenge, held at IIT Bombay a short while ago and also had also been with the top 18 Innovative Startups from all around the nation. The staff will get Rs 10 lakh worth equity less funding.
