New Delhi: The Railway Minister, IIT Kanpur and Department of Science & Technology have forged an association, working on a project ‘Industry 4.0’ which includes digital technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and Big Data.
The project will be launched at MCF (Modern Coach Factory), Raebareli.
“Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) aims at the current trend of data exchange, automation, and interconnectivity among manufacturing technologies to increase productivity,” said Minister of Railways.
“A complex Cyber-Physical System(Industry 4.0) which combines Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics, digital technologies, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Machine Learning,” said that statement.
Modern Coach Factory is a coach manufacturing unit with the capacity of manufacturing 1000 Passengers coach annually.
“About 4000cr are expected to invest in the upcoming years in Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical System (ICPS) to foster and increase R&D in this emerging area of research,” said Rajesh Agarwal, Railway Board (Member Rolling Stock).
The statement also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent visit to Houston, USA, addressed, highlighted the importance of ‘Industry 4.0’ to India’s advantage and in the global economy.
The Railways officials said, “Complete change to the digital factory using’ Industry 4.0′ throughout the whole value chain from design to production will help improve productivity hugely by offering insight into the creative process to carry the choices in real-time basis”.
“Industry 4.0 would be based cyber/physical-digital program and would involve various packages, systems, Hardware and applications inside Design/Planning, Networking as well as Production being added to an incremental and modular manner in MCF,” statement issued by Railways.
