Introducing AI in all streams : Visvesvaraya Technology University.

Visvesvaraya Technology University has already introduced Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine learning(MI) as a subject in there Bachelor of Engineering course and now VTC is going to introduce AI and ML across its all the streams including Civil and Mechanical engineering.
Considering recent development in tech industry the university wants their students to have an insight into the subject since Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine learning(MI) is applicable in every stream said the officials of VTU.
“AI Has great scope and has already pushed boundaries in many fields, medicine is also learning on AI. Using Artificial Intelligence several innovations can be done and considering this as the future VTC has decided to introduce Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine learning(MI) as a subject across all engineering students and also in all their affiliated universities” said Professor Karisidappa, Vice-Chancellor of VTU he also added,” The subject will be optional for students who are interested to take the AI course. A Degree program has already been introduced in Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine learning(MI) and is also optional for Computer Science students, now the horizon can be spread and the support students need in this field will be provided.
Varsity can easily adapt to this change. Teachers are already being trained and support is also provided so that they can teach this course.
VTU is offering these subjects as a degree course which makes VTU the first university to do this however, there are several collages offering different modules in Artificial intelligence, Machine Vision and Robot programming in their third semester of Instrumentation Engineering course. Institutes such as Indian Institute of Technology(IIT’s) already have such courses.
“Most industries are looking for graduates who have some knowledge about Artificial intelligence and several engineering collages were requesting to offer this course as well as students have also been demanding this course. Graduates, Job seekers with AI degree are well paid and are also in demand” said a senior official from VTU.
The up-coming counseling sessions conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority(KEA), students will have a choice to take Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine learning(MI) as a course in their Bachelor of Engineering from the colleges offering them.
