Cloud computing can ease up your life in several ways, but at the same time cloud computing disadvantages also exist. A couple of things that can be disadvantageous would heavily depend on the way you use it.
See lessFor instance, network heavy applications can be charged a lot of money if they need to transmit huge amounts of data from one data center to another. it can very easily run into 100s of thousands of dollars.
If for some reason you require full access to bare metal servers you most probably want to get it. One of the major cloud computing disadvantages is that If your application has stringent SLAs to meet which your on prem equipment has been able to provide (maybe because of special customization you did) You might not be able to get that in the cloud. SLAs there are more geared towards general applications.
If you require a certain feature – and the cloud platform currently doesn’t provide it, you might have to wait for it (and you might be waiting a long time).
Security used to be a big concern for many applications, but over time cloud computing has matured into a product where it’s no longer a greater threat. Cloud platforms are well suited for general applications. They are very well designed specially for web based applications. However, if your application is a heavily customized one which requires a lot of customization you might not get what you need by migrating to cloud while your application as it is. You might need to re-architect your application to adapt to cloud capabilities OR opt for another application to do your bid.
Inshort, You have no control of anything. You can’t guarantee that your data won’t be stolen, lost or corrupted, because someone else now has control. The cloud is fine for data that you have backed up on hard drives that are in your possession and that isn’t anything that can cause you problems or cause you financial loss if they are breached or lost.
No matter what the cloud storage and cloud server companies claim, there is no way that they can unequivocally guarantee that your data will never be lost or breached. Such cloud computing disadvantages do exits and you should be smart enough to differentiate what is going right and what is going wrong
