I enrolled in the data science programme at Edvancer Academy, but I regret my decision. Any good course should have the things it lacks. I had the following problems.
1. Inept and inexperienced teachers—Before I started working there, they had promised good faculty from the industry with more than 15 years of experience, but all they delivered was a few internal employees with some teaching experience but no real-world expertise.
2. There is no adequate course material—just a few low-quality offline movies with no relevant text or references.
3. Combining various classes—I don’t know why the earlier batches haven’t been successful, but when our batch started, a few other batches joined us, making the batch size very large.
4. The Edvancer support staff offers poor assistance. I believe there is one member of the support team that only responds to pertinent inquiries and not all of them. There was either no answer at all or merely a response that they would check with management when our entire batch asked for a repetition of classes taught by one of their faculty members (who just used to read out slides).
Overall, I would not advise anyone to enroll in any course with Edvancer Academy, at least not the online courses. Before you enroll, they will show you the stars before pushing you all the way to the ground.
Very poor placement network. They won’t assist you in any way. However, do not count on them to put you. You’ll have to ace the interview and land the job on your own.
Microphones are ineffective. The grading system is somewhat perplexing, and the suggested reading lists are completely useless due to the unintelligible language of the books.
I joined the data science program at Edvancer. The usual sales team called counselors were aware of what they were selling and offered me a good discount in the name of a scholarship. The best part is the trainers, they are knowledgeable and very supportive. However, the course content is not up to the mark. It is a very basic course that makes everyone believe that they are doing well in understanding the basic terminologies of Data Science. Soon when the complexities of the course kick in, then you will realize that it is not as easy as it looks and if you are not from a tech background it’s going to be a very challenging task. For basic course content, the Q&A forum is more than enough. Post when you move to the advanced phase the forum is of no help and you will have more and more queries, which is not possible to get answers to during live classes, then you will raise concerns, which will take time and then you will have more concerns and then you lose interest and you will leave behind in the class. This may differ from student to student. In my opinion choose a better institute, which has a better curriculum apart from 1 or 2 good trainers teaching you basic stuff. The PG Program in Data Science by Advancer is not what they claim on their webpage. When I was looking for a data science course, I went to multiple online websites, including Edvancer. They promise everything to become a professional data scientist, and those are: Course completion certificate by UPES. Placement guarantee. Two modes of learning: online and self-paced with teachers’ support. Working on projects. Highly qualified teacher. Their promises influenced me to go enroll in the online learning PG program in data science, paying Rs 119,900 + GST. But I was wrong, and after going into the course.
I was shocked and very much disappointed by their teaching pedagogy and student support system. My batch size was around 30 students, and the faculty differed from what they showed on their web page. The faculty does not have sound knowledge of python, R, and ML.
I told the Advancer team to change the faculty, but they always give lame excuses and false promises. Throughout the data science course, there was only 20% practical knowledge, and the main focus was completing the theoretical topics. I rarely had feedback on my submitted projects. One of my friends was also learning data science at some other institute, and he told me that there was personalized feedback and dedicated mentor support.
After course completion, it was time for the guaranteed placement. The Edvancer career support team helped me design a professional resume and told me they would forward it to hiring companies. I inquired about the selection of my resume, but they always told me that you are not shortlisted, and it was not only me but none of my batchmates shortlisted. That means they were just giving excuses. The course will not provide a placement guarantee. I will not recommend this course; it is a well-organized trap to earn money with a false promise of a placement guarantee.

Lalit Sachan, a tutor, has a strong knowledge of the material and almost always succeeds in making even the most challenging ML topics understandable to students. He takes the time and effort to explain how ML algorithms operate and the math and statistics that go into them, not just how to code and apply an ML algorithm to a dataset. His explanation of complex boosting principles, SVMs, and other things was really clear to me.
