I personally don’t see ANY PRODUCT companies which hire solely based on certifications or courses. It used to happen few years ago, but now it’s very LESS. You have 2 choices:
• Change to a data science project in your company (which is tough but not impossible) and gain some practical experience so that you understand what the challenges are in implementing ML in real world. And then give a try or (Bit controversial but I didn’t mind doing this as I was frustrated with my job)
• Assuming you have good hold on Data Science, if NO, sit back , check Kaggle competitions , take it up and learn from other submitters. Once you get hold , then drop it on your resume as a project you did in your current team.
That is entirely dependent on the kind of jobs available at a product-based company in India. Employees who are recruited from some services organizations in India to some product-based companies in India are almost always for clerical/managerial positions and almost never for software engineering positions. I believe you should broaden your skill set and knowledge because if you have the skills that a company requires, you will almost certainly be employed by one of the top firms. This course will assist you and provide you with certificates that will present you with a competitive advantage.
I was in a similar circumstance, and I, too, wanted to leave TCS for a product-based firm. My first piece of advice is to use Naurki.com. I applied through LinkedIn but did not receive an answer. Naurki is far superior. Finally, a reputable firm contacted me, and I accepted the offer, but only if I agreed to start in 45 days. Since it was my new project at TCS, I quit without hesitation. But I was still unsure about the situation, so I continued to apply to a variety of companies. I was astounded to receive so many emails and phone calls on a regular basis. I did two or three additional interviews but was not chosen in any of them. Even though the interview went well, some companies did not respond. My recommendation is to participate on sites like CodeChef, Leetcode, and GFG. Learn about some in-demand technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, and JS frameworks. Consult your seniors or mentors for advice.
