They are not, though. I believe I am competent to answer because I have completed roughly 20 of them. They include useful information. It’s what you take away from them and then use it to solve difficulties in the real world. You either know your stuff or you don’t; nobody cares. Just like that. However, they do demonstrate your will to learn, your willingness to pick up new skills, and your persistence. You can get your Udemy certificate just by clicking on all the content boxes, and mark them as seen. There is thus no certificate value. Go to college if you have the time. If you don’t, educate yourself and, most importantly, build. Enjoy your day!
A pattern of accomplishments resulting from accumulating skills learned in Udemy courses, combined with dedication, tenacity, curiosity, and a willingness to take responsibility for your own learning will carry a lot of weight. Concentrate your resume on your actual skills and minimize where you obtained them. Demonstrate how you applied what you learned on Udemy to a relevant situation, and carefully map your skills to those listed in the job description. Include bullet point examples of projects you were able to complete thanks to the skills you learned from Udemy courses.
Recruiters will not accept Udemy certifications in the education section of your resume unless they are professionally recognized and granted by an accredited institution. That is not to say that Udemy coursework should not be included on your resume. It simply means that you must translate your Udemy certifications into a set of skills that add value to the hiring organization. Academic credentials are one thing. The skills you gained as a result of obtaining those credentials are something else, and this is what recruiters are looking for. A recruiter may not place much emphasis on the courses themselves.
