I’m glad that I could do this course and enhance my skillsets. The certification consists of 9 courses, each of which is quite important, especially for beginners! I have completed 4 courses and am on the 5th course.
Certification in data science can enhance your career to new heights! This is one of the highest-paying and most popular occupations right now! And, yes, IBM has partnered with Coursera to offer a data science certification! It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
Well, my experience with Coursera has not been that great, to be honest. I expected that I will get a job after doing this course but I didn’t. It is unrealistic to believe that obtaining any certification, no matter how good, will automatically land you a good data science job. Most people need years to break into the field and earn the title of data scientist or machine learning engineer.
Certifications, as previously stated, are beneficial. Doing end-to-end data science projects on your own is more beneficial. So learn SQL and Python, learn what you need to know about math, statistics, coding, and databases, and then use sites like Kaggle to get help and ideas for your own end-to-end data science projects. You will get a job if you can do the work of a data scientist on your own. That is the experience most corporations want to see before offering you a job.
I’ll tell you about my experience. Coursera provides a free Data Science IBM course. Just below the enroll button, you can apply for financial aid. You must answer a few questions, such as why you are applying for financial aid and how you intend to use this skill. Then, after submitting the form, your financial aid application will be reviewed within 16 days. Coursera accepts almost every financial aid application; you only need to provide a valid reason between 150 words. Coursera is extremely gracious.
