The agricultural industry is one of the world’s oldest and leading occupations. By 2050, it is predicted that there will be more than nine billion people on the planet. According to World Bank senior economist Prakash Chakrabarti, this calls for an increase of 70% in agricultural output to meet demand. We need a wise and effective approach because the world’s population is increasing and there aren’t enough resources, water, or land to support everyone.
To quickly summarize the current state of automation in agriculture, this study looks at the work of numerous academics. The research attempts to assess artificial intelligence’s several uses in agriculture, including irrigation, weeding, spraying, and crop monitoring. A global agricultural revolution has been ushered in by robotics and drone technology. Farmers can find more effective ways to protect their crops from weeds by using AI-powered agricultural bots. The monitoring and spraying of weeds is made easier with the help of computer vision.
This eliminates the need for farmers to physically enter the field to monitor their crops. By utilizing artificial intelligence in agriculture, farmers may be able to understand data insights such as temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and sun radiation better. The best thing about employing AI in agriculture is that it won’t replace human farmers’ jobs; rather, it will help them run their businesses more efficiently. The development of artificial intelligence technology has improved the efficiency of agribusinesses.
Disadvantages include the expensive cost of research and development, the exclusion of poor farmers, and the requirement for maintenance and energy-efficient equipment.
Artificial intelligence in agriculture is helping farmers automate their processes and switch to precision farming for increased crop production and quality. Future technical developments will bring more beneficial uses to this sector, supporting the world in addressing issues related to food production as the global population rises.
A.I is the new technology for this era and it is used in different sectors, artificial intelligence in agriculture is also needed for an effective system in agriculture. Artificial Intelligence when applied to agriculture is known as precision agriculture. In the agriculture field, AI is used for field harvesting, pest control, health monitoring and deficiency detection.
1.Killing weedicides using machines. Weeds are wild plants that are grown in the field and stunt the growth of the main food crop. These steal nutrients from the crop. It increases the vulnerability of main crops, and weeds make the main plant more targeted for pest attacks. In traditional methods, farmers used physical manpower to get these weeds removed. But after the advent of AI, It has opened one more new way for the farmers, known as automatic weeding. Automatic weeding makes use of robots to remove the weeds from the field. This is done by the use of laser lights. Presently, this is commonly used form of artificial intelligence in agriculture
2. Harvesting can be done automatically. The software equips the use of cameras to recognize the harvesting products. Harvesting products include fruits or vegetables. After analyzing the selected products, the machine commands the AI to pick them and collect them. Recently, these machines have been employed for the collection of lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, apples and other fruits.
3.A.I can b e used to detect plant diseases and to combat solutions for the issue. It often uses the technique of image recognition to implement the intelligent farming solution. The image of the plant captured by the camera is allowed to run through an image recognition software. The software further generates the disease details, method of control and treatment.
4.Inorder to keep your plants healthy, proper and constant Soil Health Monitoring is required. The data received after analysis is then compared with hundreds of samples present in different online data. Later, a final prediction is made indicating the pH level, moisture level, nutritional deficiencies, and microbes presence of the soil. And it also gives recommendations and solutions to improve the soil quality.
5. With the help of A.I productivity increases and it helps in improving the productivity of the farms. The automated and autonomous farming operations often used in A.I for enabled production and yield management improves the net output from the field. AI-enhanced picking, packing and sorting often enhance the food production. 6.Predict the requirement of pesticides By studying the characteristics of the field. AI helps in analyzing the requirements of pesticides and weedicides required as per the field. A.I also can trace a small change in this field. AI software helps in identifying plant health problems and pest attacks. It also improves the soil fertility and maintenance and saves the excess use of pesticides and herbicides as per as the specific field.
These are some of the uses of artificial intelligence in agriculture. As time flies by there will be more enhanced and effective artificial intelligence in agriculture.
