In my opinion Coursera work on initiatives that require Data Science technologies. Cousera helps you to build your resume to demonstrate that you are a Data Science applicant who is ready to work in the field.
Coursera Provides you online training and assignments under their supervision, but remember not to rely on them and to maintain your will to learn and grow. So I will definitely say Coursera Data Science courses are really effective in getting a job in India.
I would say, taking a course and finding a job are 2 different things that have little to do with each other (especially in an Indian context). When you take a course from Coursera (or from anywhere else), you learn some skills that are relevant to that course/domain.
Now it is up to you to what extent you master these skills. There are no restrictions on eligibility to take courses on Coursera, but some courses require certain prerequisites. Now that we get to a job, every job requires some skills from a potential candidate.
There is also a minimum criterion for educational qualification and relevant work experience. If you meet these requirements, you can apply.
I think you’ll require Python, R, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence skills, as well as hands-on experience using those talents, to work as a Data Scientist. And Coursera is really good at providing this education.
Companies prefer individuals with strong abilities and some experience because they do not want to train every candidate from the ground up to become a Data Scientist. After all, there are so many talents required.
In India, there are over 1.4 lakh job openings in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics sectors across various industries. The employee shortage would reach 2.3 lakh by 2021. However, due to a skills shortage, the IT industry hired 50% fewer people last year.
