I am confused between these 2 e-learning platforms can anyone help me to figure out which is the best.
Hi All,
I am a commerce graduate and do not know any programming language. Due to COVID, I lost my job, and I was checking the options to upskill myself, and it sounded like Data Science is the key after looking at online promotions of different institutes. I inquired about almost 10-12 institutes offering data science courses and much identical course structures and topics to be covered. The only difference was the Fees and other benefits like a job guarantee. Being Jobless, I focused on keeping my savings intact, so I joined a free course from DataQuest. It’s not as easy as they claim for a non-programming background guy to become a Data Scientist. I had nothing to lose, so I focused on the course material to upskill myself. Even though I don’t have any certificate of completion, I am happy with the improved skill set and job!
A definite Yes to Udemy because of the library and content they have on Data Science, and on top of that, the courses offered are pocket friendly too. If luck is on your side, you should be able to get some attractive offers that can bring down the cost to a bare minimum. What I liked about Udemy is the best-in-class content provided by experienced industry mentors like Jose Portilla, Srinidhi Ranganathan, Kirill Eremenko and expert teams like Lazy programmer Inc, Sundog Education, and 365 Careers (Naming a few as the list is too lengthy).
Few of the courses that you must follow:
*Statistics for Data Science and Business Analysis.
*Applied Statistical modeling for Data Analysis in R.
*Data Science: Supervised machine learning in Python.
Which learning source is better will always remain a question. All these educational bodies offering Data Science courses can not change the definitions, algorithms, or the basics of writing codes. The only difference they can bring is “The Instructor.” My Idea of learning is through Instructor lead training, where we raise our hand and get a response or clear our doubts then and there. I am a working professional, and sometimes taking time out for the live classes is challenging, even though my classes happen on weekends. I get videos for missed classes, and it is pretty tough to understand when you don’t have the clarification or cannot understand some logic given by the mentor. So try to understand my point of Self-paced learning through study material or videos is not easy as it seems. First, you need to have the patience to go through all the study material by yourself, and if you are stuck at some point, you cannot leave that question behind and start going forward; the only thing that happens is you close the material, or you lose your interest. Data Scientist, no doubt, is a rewarding career path, but how you are going to pursue it – matters.
