The Dogecoin meme which featured an image of a Shiba Inu, was created by Japanese kindergarten teacher Atsuko Sato in 2010. The photo, which she posted to her personal blog with the caption “Wondering if it’s okay to be unbearably cute…” quickly went viral and became the face of Dogecoin. Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer were two software engineers who adopted it for use as a cryptocurrency in 2013.
The Dogecoin meme was created by a graphic designer and illustrator named Michael type. The original dogecoin meme first appeared on an internet message board on 6th December 2013. It featured a photo of the Shiba Inu dog breed, which is the mascot of Dogecoin, surrounded by multi-colored comic sans text with intentionally broken English syntax used to depict its internal monologue. Michael Showalter later modified the meme with additional wording that went viral on the internet after being posted to Reddit. This version of the meme launched the use of ‘doge’ as an internet slang term for expressing excitement or astonishment online.
The Dogecoin meme was created in 2013 by Jackson Palmer, a product manager at Adobe Systems. He had noticed the rising popularity of Litecoin, the “joke” cryptocurrency, and decided to create his own version of it using the popular Doge image from 4chan. The classic Shiba Inu dog character became instantly iconic, and soon Dogecoin’s symbol was popping up on Reddit boards and social media sites around the world.
