UpGrad: Overview
Before getting into the UpGrad data science course review, I am throwing some light on the eLearning platform UpGrad and its history. In 2015 Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar, Phalgun Kompalli, and Ravijot Chugh founded UpGrad, a Mumbai-based startup to upskill working professionals and freshers with demanding technologies. Its headquarter is in Mumbai, and its parent organization is UpGrad Education Pvt. Ltd.
Mayank Kumar, managing director at UpGrad, is a Computer Science graduate from IIT Delhi and an MBA from the Indian School of Business; before upGrad, he was VP of Education at Bertelsmann and was a Board Member of iNurture.
Ronnie Screwvala is the chairman of UpGrad and the Founder of Walt Disney India, Unilazer Ventures, and RSVP Movies. He is on the Board of Advisors in AIESEC India. He holds the 78th position among the top 100 influencing people worldwide on Time100.
Phalgun Kompalli is the head of the sales and marketing department. He holds Bachelor in Technology degree from IIT Delhi, and before UpGrad, he was Principal at Parthenon Group. He worked in technology, leading learning in various areas of India, the US, Brazil, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Ravijot Chugh handles the department of design, content, student success division, career services, product, and delivery at UpGrad. He is an IIT Delhi, Computer science graduate and co-founder of travel startup 360hr.com, with headquarters in San Francisco. He worked at Housing.com as a product lead.
UpGrad provides an executive postgraduate data science course of 12 months with six electives. UpGrad offers various courses for working professionals, doctorates, masters, and study abroad categories.

This is all claiming there are no facts and figures to know how many students they placed. And UpGrad also promises an average salary hike of 58% with 1000+ career transformations.
A giant figure to digest…..
Admission Fee
The data science course at UpGrad starts from ₹ 6,737 per month, which means a total of ₹2,99,000 with an EMI option available. OMG, a vast amount of money as compared to other eLearning platforms. I found this massive amount for a data science course with no money-back guarantee.
UpGrad does not provide a money-back guarantee so think twice before jumping for this course. Now, let’s examine what the learners and alumni say about this course.

Finally, at last, I want to say the course is not worth a hefty fee and there is no guaranteed placement, but I like the course duration of 12 months with a focus on developing all relevant skills and technologies. UpGrad Data Science course has a big name in the market but considering the reviews of UpGrad, it is not advisable to invest such a huge course fee when you have other options available in the market.
