About the Role:

Gartner is seeking a Test Engineer with robust expertise in ETL data warehousing, SQL scripting, and BI report validation to bolster our team. In this role, you will strategize and implement optimal testing methodologies to ensure quality delivery while adhering to industry best practices. Familiarity with MDM systems and proficiency in API testing will be advantageous.

What You’ll Do:

• Review functional and technical documents to comprehend data lineage.
• Develop and execute manual and automated test plans for ETL data pipeline, functionality, acceptance, regression, and performance testing.
• Collaborate closely with developers and Business Analysts in an agile development environment to grasp requirements and conduct testing.
• Formulate test scenarios, conduct functional tests, establish regression suites, produce testing artifacts, and document defects with precision.
• Adhere to coding standards, craft appropriate unit tests, integration tests, deployment scripts, and review project artifacts generated by peers.
• Design and implement automation scripts.

What You’ll Need:

• 2-4 years of hands-on experience in ETL concepts and testing within data warehouse/data-driven projects, with a working knowledge of MDM systems.

The Candidate Must Possess:

• Proficiency in crafting complex PL/SQL scripts for Datawarehouse/ETL testing.
• Understanding of and testing experience in Data Warehousing/MDM and Data modeling.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Proficiency in testing ETL pipelines, BI dashboards, and Self-Service reports.
• Hands-on experience with Test management tools like JIRA, QC, etc.
• Experience in testing APIs using Postman or automation tools is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, with a keen ability to learn, adapt, and grasp business processes.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis on reported issues.

Good to Have:

• Knowledge of testing MDM solutions, including match and merge algorithms, and testing NRT messages, API messages.
• Solid understanding of API Testing and best practices.
• Experience in automation using programming languages such as Python, Java, is a plus.
• Experience in Performance testing with tools like JMeter is advantageous.
• Familiarity/knowledge about ETL automation tools like DataOps, ETLValidator.
