Now let’s talk about Coursera CyberSecurity Specialization Program.
Coursera as a platform is growing exponentially. Over the past two-three years, the number of registered learners on Coursera has more than doubled. Honestly, what surprised me about this program is that it doesn’t have any significant collaborations, unlike Coursera’s other programs. Anyway, let’s dig in to find more information on this program.
- The program is an online Bootcamp with a duration of only Eight months (4hours/day).
- It offers 10 core modules and one project module, 12-15 hours per week.
- 10+ cutting edge technologies like IBM New Collar, Malware, Cybersecurity, Cyber Attacks, database vulnerabilities, Network Security, Sql Injection.
- It also offers 100% hands-on learning from anywhere, No travel- required. I think that’s a nice feature.
- There is no mention of doubt clearing sessions in this course.

Placement
Placement is where all of our focus is. After all, that’s what all of you look forward to, and with good reasons. I am shocked after finding out that Coursera currently does not have any placements. The only benefit of Coursera is that it has partnered with very well-known universities that provide their top courses to you on this platform. Their partnership with many renowned universities allows you to get certification in specializations or even a master’s degree.
Admission Fee
Now let me tell you the fee for this program; Coursera CyberSecurity Specialization Program has variation in their fees which depends on their listed programs. Basically, There are three types of programs:
- Firstly, Single Learning Program in which you can learn Single topics/skills whose fees vary from ₹3906 – ₹6298/month (incl. taxes).
- Secondly, Coursera Plus Monthly in which gives access to use multiple courses whose fees vary from ₹4703/month (incl. taxes).
- Third and Lastly, Coursera Plus Annual in which they offer Combine flexibility and savings with long-term learning goals with a fee of ₹31,809 /year.
Honestly, this fee structure makes me feel like it’s a little too expensive compared to their own programs in the same domain. I guess the institute’s popularity pulled the fees a little high.
Reviews:
Indeed, Coursera is on the list of one of the most popular institutes right now.
Students rated this course a 1.5 star. As they said, the first week of this course consists of videos from the first course in the Cyber Security Analyst certification. The videos are of poor visual and audio quality.
They found the instructors very hard to understand due to their accents. The quizzes often do not reflect the subject matter. More than once, They had to select the wrong answer to pass a quiz. To sum it up, this course is sloppy, and since it is part of a more extensive program, it would behoove Coursera to rearrange this material to fit into the previous course and following courses and then delete this course entirely.
