The P.S. Educational Society recently opened a tutoring center for aspirants looking to ace the Civil Services Exam. The Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Academy for Civil Services, a society unit, will admit 30 students in its first batch and plans to hold a preliminary examination in 2025, according to society president K.V.S. Gopalakrishnan, a former Indian Police Service officer.
As part of this endeavor, former Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Chairman D.P. Agarwal spoke to students and parents at the P.S. Senior Secondary School on R.K. Mutt Road on Sunday. Agarwal, who served as the UPSC’s Chairman from 2008 to 2014, provided the audience an overview of civil services.
Every year, over 12 lakh people apply for only about 15,000 openings announced by the government. “My experience in the commission is that UPSC only selects on merit,” he said, adding: “You should know you are competing against 12 lakh (candidates) from across India.” They come from diverse cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
The institution is a unit of the P.S. Educational Society, the educational wing of P. S. Charities, which was created in 1905 to promote education through character development. The CBSE granted the school permanent affiliation on April 1, 1987.
The P.S. Educational Society has opened a coaching center for applicants who desire to excel at the Civil Services Exam. The selection committee does not make distinctions based on the number of attempts or the categories to which the candidates belong, he stated.
Mr. Agarwal advised the institution to give pupils with materials that contained factual information. Candidates should also be taught the value of understanding mathematical manipulation and English comprehension, he said.
Mr. Gopalakrishnan stated that seven individuals have already registered for the programme. Candidates would be selected based on their performance in an aptitude test. The goal is to admit approximately 25 to 30 individuals. The classes will be held at the school after school and during holidays.
CONCLUSION : The P.S. Educational Society has opened a tutoring center for students preparing for the Civil Services Exam. The Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Academy for Civil Services will admit 30 students in its first batch, with a preliminary examination planned for 2025.
