In a note to clients written by Chris Lane and Samuel Chen on Friday mentioned that, “there is no rational case for a user to upgrade to 5G yet they are, mobile phones with super fast services are more expensive and there is no practical benefit over the latest 4G models which are already capable of downloading at speed well enough to stream high definition videos.
South Korean carrier SK Telecom Co. reached 1 million 5G members previous month, 140 days following introducing the world’s very first commercial service, representing 3.5% of its user base. China is going to have 170 million 5G smartphones offered by the following year, based on estimates by China Telecom Corp., that targets 60 million 5G owners for its network.
Over the next few years, U.S. and Australia including other markets have introduced 5G services to a limited area with a plan to expand coverage nationwide.
The latest 5G mobile phones don’t “future proof” users because the concept isn’t completely matured and will go on to evolve, while a brand new 4G handset will be a leading edge unit in 2 years, Chen and Lane wrote. Specifically, first edition 5G phones cannot access millimeter-wave bands that are going to be added within upcoming years to fulfill the technology ‘s high speed, low latency promise.
