YES !! it is worth doing if you are an undergrad at any professional course:
I did a web designing course of NPTEL and it was a very disappointing experience for me. First of all, the content of the course was very outdated and irrelevant. It seemed as if no effort was made to update the course. The course content was not at all appropriate keeping in mind the current web designing trends and industry requirements.
The level of the instructors was also very disappointing. He neither had in-depth knowledge of the subject nor was able to answer the questions of the students properly. His teaching style was also very boring and ineffective. It felt like they were just reading the script, without any real understanding or experience.
The practical sessions and assignments in the course were also very low level. The level of assignments was so low that there was nothing new to learn from them. They contained no examples of real-world applications or solutions to real problems used in industry.
The biggest problem was that there was no help or guidance after the course. NPTEL had made tall promises during the course that they would get us placements in good companies, but none of these came true after the course was completed. The placement team was also not very supportive and did not help us find job opportunities at all.
Overall, NPTEL’s web designing course is a complete waste of time and money. This is not only a waste of time and money, but also does not lead to any kind of knowledge or skill. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to take NPTEL’s web designing course.
